Amman, Jordan / Dubai, UAE – September 24, 2005 – Informobility, a leading Middle East-based provider of mobile and wireless products, services, and solutions, announced today that its Fee Jeibi Ein (FJE) Series has been selected by HP to Arabize the latter's new flagship smartphone, the iPAQ 6500, to be sold in the Middle East.
Under this partnership, the FJE series will be bundled with the iPAQ 6500 to offer the Arab user a Hijri calendar, Islamic prayer-times calendar, Holy Quran, Smart Dialer, and an English-Arabic dictionary. Additionally, the device owner will have the choice to download free trials of more Informobility products, such as the Pocket Expense Manager, Pocket Unit Converter, Pocket News Reader, Pocket Weather Forecast, and Pocket Karaoke.
Informobility first entered the Microsoft-based platform of handheld computing in 2003, when it introduced the first version of FJE. The new, second version of FJE supports full Arabic synchronization with Microsoft Office and Outlook, and provides full Arabic and Farsi support for Internet Explorer, MSN chat, and SMS/MMS.
Jaffar Mansour, CEO of Informobility, is confident that "Informobility's portfolio of personal applications with enhanced features will enable the Arab-speaking users to do a lot more with their devices in their own language". He adds that "the information mobility revolution has evolved vastly in the World, and we are keen on providing leading products and solutions that empower the Arabic customers to stay in parallel with this revolution. Our most recent Arabization of the Windows Mobile 5.0 - before the OS even hit the Arabic market - attests to that."
Illustrating the features of the new iPAQ hw6500, Vishnu Taimni, the HP Middle East Category Manager of Notebooks and Handhelds, explains: "Given its feature-rich embedded upgrades, the new HP iPAQ hw6500 enables users to log on to the regional stock exchange as well as download and email Arabic attachments, thus enabling mobile travelers to stay productive and connected - wirelessly - while traveling anywhere in the Middle East. We will be showcasing the Arabic HP iPAQ hw6500 during GITEX 2005 and are confident that with the growing interest in Arabic software development and solutions, customers and visitors will be interested in viewing Arabic demos." The iPAQ hw6500 has an external keyboard with full support for Arabic and English alphabets, and Indian and Arabic numerals, thus enabling users to type freely in English and Arabic without the need for a stylus.
Taimni adds: "Regional content and solutions are instrumental to the continued growth of the IT industry in the region… Working with Informobility, the first company to provide Arabic support to PDAs and to deploy a PDA-based E-Census solution in the Middle East, we are keen to bring to market catered solutions that enhance the consumers' digital experience."
