Informobility Releases Arabic Suite for Windows
Mobile 5.0
Amman,
Jordan – November 26, 2005 – Informobility has
officially released today the latest in its Arabization for Windows Mobile; the Arabic Suite for
Windows Mobile 5.0.
In September 2005, Informobility had announced at
GITEX Dubai the launch of the first Arabic support
for Windows Mobile 5.0, which was restrictedly
available for device manufacturers for testing and
licensing purposes. This came only four months after
Microsoft had announced its release of Windows
Mobile 5.0 at its annual Mobile and Embedded DevCon
in May 2005. Microsoft worked closely with industry
leaders, including device makers and independent
software vendors, to produce an enhanced OS that
provides users with the benefits of improved
productivity, richer multimedia applications, and
more ways to integrate mobile platform functions into other mobile
applications.
Informobility's
Arabic Suite for Windows Mobile 5.0 is now readily
available for all Middle East users. It builds on
the fundamental Arabic support layer, known as
Arabic Windows Mobile 5.0, bundled at no additional
cost with a Hijri calendar, a note pad, and an
Arabic letter recognizer (graffiti tool). In
addition to the Arabic support layer, the Arabic
Suite comprises two function-based bundles: the
Muslim Pack (Pocket Holy Quran, Pocket Prayer Times,
and Pocket Hijri Calendar) and the Productivity Pack
(Pocket Smart Dialer and Pocket Units Converter).
Another member of this suite is a service-based
product; the Pocket News Reader offers its users the
ability to derive, view, archive, and search the
latest news from the Middle East's leading online
newspaper, Asharq Alawsat.
Future products
that will be released by the turn of 2006 are the
Pocket Weather Forecast, the Pocket Expense Manager,
and the Pocket Karaoke.
Owners of
GPS-enabled Windows Mobile devices can enjoy
location-based Web services in Informobility's
Arabic Suite to electronically determine, for
example, the prayer times or monetary currency based
on current city.
Free, two-week
trial versions of the applications can be found at
the leading e-Commerce sites Handango and PocketGear.
